A New Non-Cook Book For MEEEEEE!!!!

Hey!! Well, it's been a while since I wrote and here is why. I recently got 'LIVE RAW' by Mimi Kirk, in the mail and I have been devouring every page for the last 2 weeks. I'm so happy!!!! It's a book about raw living as well as great raw recipes and it's just gorgeous! Benjamin loves looking at it too since he is my little kitchen assistant. He especially loves the desert pages!

So, I ordered it off her site http://youngonrawfood.com/ and she autographed the copy for me! She also included a necklace that is a silver ball-chain style with a dog-tag that has 5 inspirational raw living messages on it. Here are a couple pix of the book. It's a wonderful, wonderful book. Please check it out! I can't put it down and I'm looking forward to creating some of the yummies she's got in there.

In addition to all the great tips and food creations, there are wonderful stories all about Mimi and her amazing life. For one, she was voted PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Over 50 and she was over 70 when she won!

Ice Cream For Breakfast!!

Good morning! How would you like a big bowl of ice cream for breakfast on a beautiful summer morning? Well, I just about hear this request every morning from the Jellybean and little Peanut. And the answer is always ..."Not Today Sweetie". It sucks because I know I would love some too but we have all been taught that ice cream is a special treat after you finish your 'real food' so on I go preparing the kids nutritious breakfast. Well, then along comes a commercial for a new kitchen appliance that makes soft serve ice cream out of frozen bananas and what ever other fruits and flavors you want to add. The kids see this and it's all over!!! So, should I get this machine? Am I even allowed to say the name of it without permission? I'll have to find out. But here is what I say now... YES!!! LET'S ALL HAVE ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST!!!

I do not have this machine (yet) but I do have a food processor!! A very good friend on Facebook told me she does it this way and so I busted out 3 frozen bananas and 3 ripe strawberries (all organic) and popped them in my little 3-cup processor. It got stuck a few times so I added a little almond milk, about 3 tablespoons (from a carton) and just for fun, about a teaspoon of raw agave nectar. Spectacular doesn't even describe it! Here is a picture of it. I would say it made 3 child size servings. It is very creamy. I tried to get fancy by sticking mint leaves in there but the kids just threw that out. Oh well. For sure will be making this one again. You gotta try it!

My first blog post!

Hey there everyone! Here I am, LynnInTheRaw joining the millions upon billions of people out there who have started a blog. I hope that my journey takes you through some fun times with me and my family and our decision to live a healthy long life. As parents in our 40's to 2 toddler boys, we realized early on that we wanted to be in their life as long as possible and hopefully see grandchildren someday too. Both the hubby and I come from families that have terrible diets and we grew up not really experiencing much different. We see the outcome of our parents health issues as well as aunts, uncles and grandparents who have fallen downward in their health by the meal choices they made. At least they started families early in their lives! My ultimate goal is to live a 100% Raw Foods lifestyle. I know this will take years to accomplish and with the encouragement of a very good friend, (you know who you are G!) he talked me into documenting the journey. So here we go! Enjoy! xoxo
